Abstract Listeriosis caused by Listeria monocytogenes often poses a significant threat to vulnerable populations. Dairy products have been implicated in outbreaks of listeriosis worldwide. In Ethiopia, studies identified spp. and L. various dairy products, but the genetic diversity phylogenetic relationships these bacteria remain largely unknown low- middle-income countries. Therefore, we conducted whole-genome sequencing on 15 55 innocua isolates obtained from different levels supply chains across three regions Ethiopia. Genomes were assembled used for MLST genotyping single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis infer relationships. We total 3 (i.e., 2, 145, 18) 12 1489, 1619, 603, 537, 1010, 3186, 492, 3007, 1087, 474, 1008, 637) sequence types among studied isolates. Some showed region-specific occurrence, while others broadly distributed regions. Through high-quality SNP analysis, found that 13 as ST 11 them highly similar with low variation, differing only 1 10 SNPs, suggesting potential selection food chain. The also exhibited intra-ST variation 0–10 differences, except which displayed greater diversity.

Listeria innocua, though considered non-pathogenic, frequently coexists with monocytogenes in industrial environments, aiding its survival biofilms. These biofilms pose a significant challenge food processing facilities, as they protect bacteria from disinfectants and facilitate their spread. The aim of this review was to identify bacteriophages promising method for eliminating the industry. Lytic show great potential combating Commercially available products, such PhageGuard Listex™ (P100) (Micreos Food Safety, Wageningen, Netherlands), effectively reduce both L. innocua products on production surfaces. Additionally, phage-derived enzymes, endolysins, can degrade biofilms, without compromising quality. following article highlights that although present biocontrol method, further research is necessary assess long-term effectiveness, particularly regarding bacterial resistance. To maximize efficacy, combination strategies phage cocktails recommended enhance biofilm eradication minimize contamination risks.
