In this chapter, we aim to provide an overview of fasciolosis control, with a particular emphasis on ruminants. Controlling infections caused by Fasciola spp. involves implementing strategies that target both the intermediate and definitive hosts. Treating animals anthelmintic drugs has proven be most effective method for managing fasciolosis. However, emergence drug resistance led exploration new approaches, such as use combinations investigation natural compounds. While development vaccine combat disease would highly beneficial, varying efficacy rates have been observed, rendering current options insufficient commercial use. Understanding interactions between parasite its host is crucial, advancements in ‘omic’ technologies could facilitate identification therapeutic targets.

In this review article, we aim to provide an overview of fasciolosis in ruminants. Diagnosis through new coprological methods (such as Flukefinder®, FLOTAC®, and Mini-FLOTAC®) remains the most suitable approach for farms. Regarding treatment, there is a scarcity available drugs, resistance them has prompted approaches (including drug combinations, enhanced metabolism, or use natural compounds) address issue. Additionally, several researchers have developed vaccines control disease, but their efficacy varies, none are currently sufficient commercial use. Further studies needed better understand all aspects discussed manuscript, with goal improving diagnosis, disease control. It important note that manuscript does not delve into in-depth knowledge aspects; rather, it provides different methodologies related these three parasitic disease.
