Bioaugmentation can alleviate the inhibition of acids and ammonia by introducing functional strains in anaerobic digesters, but there is an urgent need to develop that be effective under thermophilic digesters. The present study constructed a bioaugmentation consortium with four strains, namely, Coprothermobacter, Thermacetogenium, Methanothermobacter, Methanosarcina, strengthen synergistic function syntrophic acetate oxidation methanogenesis for inhibited result shows cells constituting only 1.11% (on basis VS VS) inoculum led methane production increasing 702% at coinhibition 3 g/L 7 g NH4+-N/L, 49.5% 12 4 NH4+-N/L. Highly tolerant Coprothermobacter contributed this microbiological domino effect collaborating exogenous hydrogenotrophic Methanothermobacter priming indigenous acetate-oxidizing Syntrophaceticus Methanoculleus. This enhanced methanogenesis, evidenced carbon isotopic signals upregulation relating genes. Up-regulated genes ion transport catalyzing energy conversion suggested was favorable maintain normal cellular osmolality meet demand conditions.
