Crossbreeding is a traditional breeding technique and has been performed successfully in many fish species. However, distant hybridization between different genera hard to be successful because of reproductive isolation. In this study, diploid hybrids (PL) were derived from the Ussuri catfish (Pseudobagrus ussuriensis, PU, ♀, 2n = 52) longsnout (Leiocassis longirostris, LL, ♂, 52). And morphological data, external frame parameters, chromosomal karyotypes, DNA content measurement, mitochondrial control region, species-specific marker identification applied investigate traits genetic characterization PL hybrid offspring their parents. Both quantifiable shape parameters revealed intermediate those parents; however, cluster analysis showed that morphology was more favor maternal PU. The growth comparisons had significant advantages over Based on karyotype patterns, contents DNA, origin inheritance further confirmed. According sequence variations identified genome sequences two species, one developed distinguish Therefore, study provides case for intergeneric superiority, shows promise commercial application, pending studies into its husbandry, health, welfare with larger populations fish.

Abstract Sex chromosomes display remarkable diversity and variability among vertebrates. Compared with research on the X/Y Z/W chromosomes, which have long evolutionary histories in mammals birds, studies sex at early stages are limited. Here, we precisely assembled genomes of homozygous XX female YY male Lanzhou catfish (Silurus lanzhouensis) derived from an artificial gynogenetic family a self-fertilized family, respectively. Chromosome 24 (Chr24) was identified as chromosome based resequencing data. Comparative analysis X Y showed approximate 320 kb Y-specific region duplicate anti-Mullerian hormone type II receptor (amhr2y), is consistent findings 2 other Silurus species but different (Chr24 meridionalis Chr5 asotus). Deficiency amhr2y resulted male-to-female reversal, indicating that plays male-determining role S. lanzhouensis. Phylogenetic comparative genomics revealed common sex-determining gene initially translocated to Chr24 ancestor along expansion transposable elements. maintained lanzhouensis, whereas transition triggered turnover asotus. Additionally, duplication, translocation, degeneration were observed regions species. These present clear case for trajectory including origin, repeat sequence expansion, gathering region, turnover.

Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing agricultural sectors globally and becoming increasingly important for producing sustainable healthy diets with relatively low climate impacts. In comparison to livestock production, especially beef, seafood production has lower carbon emissions. Additionally, some species can extract from aquatic environments, contributing an extended cycle. However, potential negative environmental consequences in aquaculture might increase growing global population demand food. Herein, we review effects different products on greenhouse gas (GHG) We also summarize approaches improving footprints mitigating change. Key elements, including feed efficiency, selecting suitable farmed species, implementing farming practices management aquaculture, are discussed, as well trade-offs between capture fisheries. Crucially, performance gaps among underscore consumer-oriented advice significantly reduce uncertainties knowledge related sequestration GHG emissions ponds necessitate further research. Overall, holistic evaluation strategic intervention regarding fundamental essential achieving a sustainable, low-carbon future aquaculture.

The objective of this study is to investigate the effects free gossypol in cottonseed meal (CM) on growth and intestinal health grass carp, as well determine whether primary factor restricting high-level inclusion meal. This was designed with five groups: control group (32% soybean concentrate protein), CM (44% CM), protein (CPC) (33% CPC), CPC groups 400 600 mg/kg added, designated CON, CM, CPC, + GP, CON respectively. experiment lasted eight weeks, each had three replicates. employed one-way ANOVA Duncan's multiple comparisons means. findings revealed that comparison group, fish GP significantly decreased. Intestinal inflammation damage observed. indicated by a significant upregulation pro-inflammatory factors, including tnf-α, nf-κb, il-6, il-8, il-12β, il-1β, along downregulation anti-inflammatory tgf-β1, il-15, il-10. Additionally, antioxidant enzyme-related genes, nrf2, cat, CuZnsod, gpx4, gpx1, observed physical barrier function compromised. In addition, microbiota composition affected, reduction Bacillus Cetobacterium abundances remarkable increase abundance Aeromonas, resulting dysregulation function. However, rate exhibited marked increase; nonetheless, it persisted at level lower than degree improved. structure found be similar group. conclusion, excessive negatively affects carp health, whereas replacing mitigates these effects. Adding equivalent diets reduces performance impairs function, indicating limiting for high diets.
