Abstract In the present study, magnetic coagulation was used to treat dredged water and response surface method optimize process parameters. The dissolved organic matter (DOM) removal characteristics were characterized by three‐dimensional fluorescence spectrometry ultra‐high resolution mass spectrometry. During process, suspended solids (SS) rate increased initially then decreased under conditions of increasing powder dosage stirring rate. After precipitation for 20 min, contents SS, ammonia nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand, total phosphorus in treated met requirements discharge standard (GB8978–1996, China). Three‐dimensional results showed that selectively removed fulvic acids humic acid substances. with 10 min relative content lignins, tannins, proteins, lipids, aminosugars, unsaturated hydrocarbons, condensed aromatic structures, carbohydrates 26.3% 39.4%, respectively. coagulation, distribution range small molecule DOM shifted low H/C high O/C regions. This study provides a novel perspective studies on coagulation. Practitioner Points SS significantly enhanced use efficiency affected dosage. Magnetic regions after

Recovering high-value biomaterials from anaerobic digestion sludge (ADS) has attracted considerable attention. However, the molecular features and biological effects of abundant dissolved organic matters (DOMs) in ADS are still unclear, which limits efficient recycling application these bioproducts. This study investigated composition transformation DOMs recovered through a mild-temperature alkali-hydrothermal treatment (AHT) with ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry energy spectroscopy, fertilizing were evaluated by rice hydroponics. The results indicated that AHT processes significantly promoted solubilization release ADS, where most molecules remained unchanged mainly consisted N-containing compounds 1-3 N atoms, featuring aromatic or N-heterocyclic rings. Furthermore, at pH 9-10 induced hydrolysis partial protein-like substances DOMs, was accompanied formation heterocyclic-N compounds. Under 11-12, increasingly decomposed into amino-N containing 1 5 while numerous oxygenated phytotoxicity degraded removed DOMs. Rice hydroponic test verified ADS-derived process 12 exhibited highest bioactivity for growth, attributed to abundance amino humic substances. proposed novel recovery high-quality liquid fertilizer process, can further enrich technical options available safe utilization resources.

The compounds generated during wastewater treatment processes might increase the complexity and chemical risk assessment of wastewater-derived dissolved organic matter (DOM) released into receiving water. This study applied Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry to investigate dynamic changes in composition at molecular level a full-scale municipal plant (WWTP). Approximately 63.1% detected molecules effluent were derived from influent. N/S-containing more effectively removed than CHO studied WWTP. dealkylation oxygen addition reactions N-containing molecules, along with predominant N-addition observed anaerobic oxic tanks, contributed higher N/Cwa However, S-containing could be via S-loss anoxic/anaerobic/oxic (inverted A/A/O) processes. Dealkylation found reaction types all tanks inverted A/A/O More oxidized aromaticity unsaturation degree Our findings provide comprehensive view transformation DOM WWTP offer valuable insights water quality.
