Municipal sludge is an inevitable byproduct during the treatment of wastewater, which produced by sewage plants in urban residential areas, and it contains pathogens, heavy metals, other pollutants. suitable for application energy utilization because its high organic content relatively low toxic matter. The moisture municipal brings huge difficulties to harmless disposal resource utilization. At present, main method used dehydration mechanical dewatering. However, mud cake this still has a water up 80%, does not meet current rigorous requirements. Therefore, development deep technology imperative. In paper, basic properties structure were summarized. As key component flocs, extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) received much attention dewatering conditioning. Meanwhile, influencing factors also fully elaborated, including types, hardness, surface charge, size distribution, viscosity. And methods comprehensively included, namely, physical method, chemical biological combined conditioning methods. advantages disadvantages each are mentioned, their situations analyzed. Furthermore, comment was provided on mechanism, adaptability, prospects, limitations techniques improving This systematic review related can only provide reference information but benefit exploitation efficient ecofriendly technology.
