The discovery of the significant lethal impacts tire additive transformation product N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N′-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine quinone (6PPD-Q) on coho salmon has garnered global attention. However, bioaccumulation and trophic transfer additives their products (TATPs) within food webs remain obscure. This study first characterized levels compositions 15 TATPs in Pearl River Estuary, estimated potential 21 estuarine species, identified priority contaminants. Our observations indicated that were prevalent environment. Eight, six, seven, 10 quantified shrimp, sea cucumber, snail, fish samples, with total mean 45, 56, 64, 67 ng/g (wet weight), respectively. N,N′-Diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine (DPPD) N,N′-bis(2-methylphenyl)-1,4-benzenediamine (DTPD) exhibited high bioaccumulation. Significant biodilution was only for benzothiazole, while DPPD DTPD displayed biomagnification trends based Monte Carlo simulations. mechanisms trophodynamics could be explained by chemical hydrophobicity, molecular mass, metabolic rates. Based a multicriteria scoring technique, DPPD, DTPD, 6PPD-Q as work emphasizes importance biomonitoring, particularly specific hydrophobic additives.

Introduction Steroid hormones are widely present in the environment and pose potential risks to organisms. Previous studies of steroid have predominantly focused on terrestrial environments, with few conducted marine environments. Methods In this study, we analyzed occurrence 44 seawater, sediment, organisms collected from coast Guangdong, China. Results Total concentration ranged 0.11 30.15 ng/L ND 8.58 ng/g (dw) sediments, 80.52 (ww) The highest average concentrations detected were progestins, estrogens, glucocorticoids, respectively. hormone seawater significantly higher during dry season than rainy season. Guanghai Bay, Pearl River Estuary, Daya Zhelin Bay those other bays. Discussion Negative correlations observed between salinity, indicating a continental input. Risk assessment results indicated that 17α-ethinylestradiol posed high risks. Nevertheless, consumption seafood does not significant health risk humans. To best our knowledge, is first study concurrently analyze androgens, estrogens water, diverse

Abstract 17 β‐Estradiol is produced by animals, and humans excreted through excreta, has endocrine‐disrupting activity. Bacterial degradation one of the suitable methods used for removal β‐estradiol (E2) from natural environment. In this study, E2‐degrading bacteria were screened enriched sediment sample wastewater Two bacterial strains ( Stenotrophomonas maltophilia MN08 Pseudomonas aeruginosa KL10) determined >70% E2‐degradation was achieved. The strain could rapidly remove approximately 86.5% ± 1.3% E2 within 7 days treatment. addition, KL10 removed 79.5% 1% same period. Optimized culture temperature pH medium improve E2‐degradation. results demonstrated that exhibited maximum activity at 35°C, 8.0. optimal to degrade ranged 7.0 9.0. level mixture systems can exhibit synergistic individual 87.3% 1.2% 81.4% 1.5%, respectively. potential mixed system 91.3% 2.9% under optimized conditions in which 100 mg/L served as sole source carbon energy. present finding demonstrates co‐culture S. P. may provide a promising bio‐treatment strategy steroids wastewater.

In the last years, progestins have raised special concerns for their documented negative effects on aquatic species, yet little is known about environmental levels in surface waters and bioaccumulation trophic web. This study aimed to 1) adapt an extraction method quantifying freeze-dried matrices, 2) validate analytical procedure three matrices: bivalve, polychaete, crustacean, 3) characterize of four most prescribed synthetic key species across Portuguese estuaries. Through validated method, were only quantifiable crustacean. Values generally low, peaking with drospirenone values Ria de Aveiro (1.33 ± 0.26 ng/g ww) Tagus estuary (1.42 0.55 ww), while Formosa exhibited lowest progestin concentrations (< 1 ww). enabled development a precise steroid hormones distinct biological matrices.
