Perfluoroalkyl
substances
(PFAS)
represent
a
significant
challenge
to
environmental
systems
due
their
extensive
presence
in
everyday
consumer
products
and
industrial
processes,
resulting

contamination

water
soil
sources
consequent
negative
impact
on
human
health.
This
review
aims
provide
comprehensive
overview
current
approaches
potential
for
mitigating
these
persistent
substances.
By
exploring
technological
advances
remediation
PFAS,
this
intends
contribute
understanding
appropriate
technologies
mitigate
risks
associated
with
PFAS.

combined
treatment
strategies,
synergistic
approaches,
advanced
tools,
addressing
knowledge
gaps,
more
efficient,

The
aim
of
this
study
was
to
determine
the
concentrations

perfluoroalkyl
and
polyfluoroalkyl
substances
(PFAS)
in
South
Han
River
assess
human
health
risks
exposure
PFAS
through
ingestion
water
same
river.
Surface
samples
were
collected
March,
June,
September,
December,
2023
at
seven
sampling
sites
Ten
(PFBA,
PFPeA,
PFHxA,
PFHpA,
PFOA,
PFMPA,
PFMBA,
PFBS,
PFOS,
GenX)
detected
PFBA,
PFPeA
predominant.
highest
concentration
level
river
found
S1
site,
its
total
ranged
from
691
1,021
ng/L.
hazard
quotient
values
four
(i.e.,
did
not
exceed
one-tenth
World
Health
Organization’s
acceptable
level.
Short-
and
ultra-short
chain
perfluoroalkyl
substances
(S-
US-PFAS)
are
alternatives
for
the
long-chain
PFAS
which
have
been
more
regulated
over
time.
They
highly
mobile
in
environment
can
easily
reach
drinking
water
sources
become
an
important
human
exposure
route.
Furthermore,
there
growing
concerns
about
presence
of
Flanders.
Because
this,
to
S-
US-PFAS
through
Flemish
was
evaluated
this
study.
For
purpose,

S-PFAS
(PFBS
PFBA)
5
(PFPrS,
PFEtS,
TFMS,
PFPrA
TFA)
investigated
47
tap
samples,
collected
from
different
provinces,
16
bottled
waters
purchased
Out
7
target
PFAS,

(PFBA,
PFBS,
PFPrS
PFEtS)
were
detected
at
concentrations
above
LOQ
water.
In
water,
only
TFMS
present
its
LOQ.
all
analysed
samples
ranged
<0.7–7.3
ng/L
<0.03–15.0
<0.9–12.0
PFBA.
once
LOQ,
0.6
ng/L.
No
significant
differences
seen
among
companies,
nor
between
two
types
analyzed
(natural
mineral
vs
spring
water).
The
use
a
commercial
carbon
filter
significantly
reduced
median
studied
compounds
Finally,
it
estimated
that
does
not
pose
immediate
threat
health,
as
least
orders
magnitude
below
available
guidance
values.
