Due to the urgent need for a transition sustainable, zero-waste green technology, extraction of bioactives from food and agricultural by-products waste has garnered increasing interest. Traditional techniques often involve using organic solvents, which are associated with environmental health risks. Natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) have emerged as promising alternative, offering advantages such low toxicity, biodegradability, ability dissolve wide range biomolecules. This review provides comprehensive overview recent trends in application NADESs extracting bioactive compounds sustainable sources. The explains composition principles preparation highlights various applications different classes compounds, emphasizing their potential revolutionize processes. By summarizing latest advancements trends, this aims support research industrial NADESs, promoting more efficient methods sectors.

An unsustainable rate of resource production and consumption is evident in urban environments. The absence innovative approaches conjunction with the exponential urbanization expansion global population will inevitably result substantial environmental consequences. There are two emerging alternatives: circular economy (CE) metabolism (UM). integration these principles into novel methodology casts doubt on linear model contemporary economic systems, which includes extraction, production, utilization, disposal. In development a distinctive framework known as metabolism, current study has illustrated application principles. We design this to motivate planners decision-makers investigate, develop, supervise ecologically sustainable cities. Scholars from variety academic disciplines, intrigued by intricacies planning, design, administration, can foster interdisciplinary collaboration (CUM) region. To address research question, we implemented bibliometric analysis, involved examination 627 pertinent papers, utilizing R (R 3.6.0+) statistical programming language. results emphasize fundamental characteristics significance CUM management refuse. addition, findings underscore importance creating that incorporates political ecology, CUM, sustainability, dimension waste metabolism. The transition to sustainability in agriculture faces significant challenges, especially balance environmental goals with the practical demands of food production. This paper examines two different case studies that reveal complexities agricultural regulation. first focuses on valorization agri-food residual biomasses, highlighting potential transform waste into valuable bioproducts such as bioenergy and biofertilizers. Despite clear economic benefits, absence specific European regulations hinders widespread adoption these practices. Without rules for achieving “end-of-waste” status, development marketing bio-based products remain restricted. second study Union’s unsuccessful effort implement Sustainable Use Pesticides Regulation (SUR), which aimed reduce pesticide use by 50% 2030. Although regulation sought align practices EU’s Green Deal, it triggered protests from farmers concerned about losses decreased productivity. These cases, one showing under-regulation other over-regulation, highlight need balanced regulatory frameworks promote without imposing unrealistic stakeholders. ends recommendations harmonize across Europe, ensuring both innovation management reduction strategies are implemented a way supports producers, minimizing disruptions encouraging sustainable

Unlike many biopolymers, α-1,3-glucan (α-1,3-GLU) is water-insoluble, making it a promising candidate for the production of moisture-resistant films with applications in biodegradable packaging, biomedicine, and cosmetics. This study aimed to characterize structural, physicochemical (water affinity, optical, mechanical), biodegradation properties film made from α-1,3-GLU extracted Laetiporus sulphureus. The was fabricated through alkaline dissolution, casting, drying, washing remove residual NaOH, re-plasticization glycerol solution. FTIR Raman spectroscopy confirmed polysaccharide nature film, predominant α-glycosidic linkages. exhibited semi-crystalline structure high opacity due surface roughness resulting polymer coagulation. Owing re-plasticization, showed moisture content (~47%), water solubility (81.95% after 24 h), weak mechanical (tensile strength = 1.28 MPa, elongation at break ≈ 10%). This study explores the integration of circular economy (CE) concepts within horticultural research, assessing reliability and depth their application in scientific discourse. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 221 articles published between 2016 2024, utilising PRISMA framework, VOSviewer version 1.6.20, MAXQDA 24.6.0 software to analyse keywords, abstracts, thematic patterns. The findings reveal a growing use CE-related terminology horticulture particularly post-2019, with increasing emphasis resource efficiency, waste minimisation, closed-loop systems. However, discrepancy identified usage CE principles article keywords representation indicating an incomplete alignment fundamentals. Despite this progress, highlights need for more consistent precise bridge gap theoretical frameworks practical implementation. is critical advancing sustainability practices ensuring contribution broader environmental economic goals. By fostering deeper concepts, research can play pivotal role addressing global challenges.
