The presence of heavy metals in groundwater and wastewater has been a concern for health organizations. This study investigated the effectiveness activated carbon derived from various natural precursors, including acorns red oak trees (Quercus rubra), date seeds, peach employing thermal activation method removal aqueous solutions. Batch adsorption tests effects sorbent quantity, pH levels, disinfectant presence, dissolved organic matter (DOM) on efficiency Pb Cu. Characterization prepared was conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Lead diminished at 7 relative to 3 5, but copper exhibited superior efficiencies compared 5. addition monochloramine 4 parts per million (ppm) effectively eliminated lead solution. A rise free chlorine concentration 2 mg/L led reduction metal water by 20 60%. DOM concentrations 1 6 reduced efficacy mg/L. Date seed-activated carbons underscore their distinctive potential, offering useful insights enhancement treatment systems.

Background Chicken eggshells, a common poultry byproduct, are rich in calcium and provide sustainable source for producing oxide nanoparticles (CaO NPs). Their use eco-friendly synthesis aligns with the growing emphasis on materials environmental biomedical applications. Objectives: This study develops an method synthesizing CaO NPs from chicken characterizes their physicochemical properties, evaluates antibacterial antifungal activities. It also tests effectiveness removing heavy metal ions (Pb 2 ⁺, Cr Cd Hg ⁺) aqueous solutions. Methods were synthesized by calcining eggshells at 700°C 7 h. Comprehensive characterization included analysis of crystalline structure, morphology, optical bandgap energy, chemical composition, thermal stability. Antibacterial activities tested using well-agar diffusion method. Batch adsorption experiments evaluated ion removal under varying conditions pH, temperature, stirring time, adsorbent concentration Results The produced spherical, single-crystal diameters ranging 5 to 30 nm size approximately 20 nm. had energy about 4.7 eV. Significant activity was observed against Staphylococcus aureus , Klebsiella pneumoniae Escherichia coli increasing inhibition zones correlating nanoparticle concentration. effectively inhibited Candida albicans . For efficient removal, optimal found be min pH 6 40 mg 25°C, achieving recovery rates 98% Pb 97% ⁺. near-complete extending process 70 45°C achieved highest rates: 99% though this approach involves higher cost. Conclusion derived effective agents adsorbents removal. These findings highlight potential applications fields.
