The elimination of dyes discharged from industrial wastewater into water bodies is crucial due to its detrimental effects on aquatic organisms and potential carcinogenic impact human health. Various methods are employed for dye removal, but they often fall short in completely degrading the generating large amounts suspended solids. Hence, there a critical need an efficient process that can achieve complete degradation with minimal waste emission. Among traditional treatment approaches, photocatalysis stands out as promising method diverse toxic organic pollutants present wastewater. In this review, heterogeneous well explained removal. This comprehensive review not only provides insightful illumination classification also thoroughly explains various removal underlying mechanisms photocatalysis. Furthermore, factors which effect activity detail. Likewise, we categorized photocatalyst three generations observed their addresses challenges effectiveness field. Its primary aim offer overview photocatalytic pollution explore further future applications.

Over the past few decades, peroxymonosulfate (PMS)-driven advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have garnered substantial interest in field of organic decontamination. The copper (Cu)/PMS system is intriguing due to its diverse activation pathways and has been extensively employed for clearance refractory pollutants water. This article designed offer a comprehensive overview latest trends Cu-based catalysts such as single-metal mixed-metal aimed at treating recalcitrant pollutants, highlighting PMS activation. Subsequently, investigative methodologies assessing with copper-based are reviewed summarized. Then, implications pH, catalytic agent concentrations, anions, natural matter also addressed. combination catalyst/PMS systems other technologies discussed. Following that, degradation mechanisms catalyst-activated considered synopsized. Lastly, potential future research avenues proposed enhance technology support developing economically viable materials based on activating PMS.
