Pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) gene family constitutes one of the largest families in plants, which mainly participate RNA editing and splicing organellar RNAs, thereby affecting development. Recently, some evidence elucidated important roles PPR proteins albino process plant leaves. However, functions genes woody mangrove species have not been investigated. In this study, using a typical true Kandelia obovata, we systematically identified 298 characterized their general features physicochemical properties, including evolutionary relationships, subcellular localization, motif type, number introns motifs, isoelectric point, so forth. Furthermore, combined genome-wide association studies (GWAS) transcriptome analysis to identify genetic architecture potential associated with propagule leaves colour variations K. obovata. As result, prioritized 16 related phenotype different strategies, differentially expressed diversity analysis. Further discovered two interest, namely Maker00002998 (PLS-type) Maker00003187 (P-type), were causal detected by GWAS Moreover, successfully predicted downstream target chloroplast (rps14, rpoC1 rpoC2) bound proteins. The experimental verification sites rps14, rpoC1, rpoC2 our previous study interaction between rps14 transcript vitro pull-down assays revealed that protein might be involved post-transcriptional genes. Our result provides new insights into albinism mechanism obovata
