Introduction The aim of this study was to investigate the associations neck circumference (NC) and neck-to-height (NHR) with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) in Chinese patients type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Materials methods A total 2,615 prevalent T2DM were enrolled. NHR calculated through NC (cm) divided by height (cm), DKD defined as urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) ≥ 30 mg/g or estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) < 60 ml/min per 1.73 m absence other primary diseases. Results levels higher compared non-DKD (38.22 vs. 37.71, P = 0.003; 0.232 0.227, 0.001, respectively). After full adjustments, individuals at highest tertile had odds than those lowest (multivariate-adjusted OR 1.63, 95% CI: 1.22, 2.18), but association not pronounced 1.24, 0.87, 1.76). Individuals lower eGFR (β -4.64, -6.55, -2.74) UACR 0.27, 0.10, 0.45) tertile. adverse between remained statistically significant among most subgroups analyzed no interaction effects observed. Conclusion increase adversely independently associated population.

Glycemic variability plays an important role in the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study aims to determine whether long-term visit-to-visit glycemic is associated with aortic stiffness progression participants type 2 diabetes (T2D).Prospective data were obtained from 2115 T2D National Metabolic Management Center (MMC) June 2017 December 2022. Two brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV) measurements performed assess over a mean follow-up period 2.6 years. A multivariate latent class growth mixed model was applied identify trajectories blood glucose. Logistic regression models used odds ratio (OR) for evaluated by coefficient variation (CV), independent (VIM), average real (ARV), and successive (SV) glucose.Four distinct glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) or fasting glucose (FBG) identified. In U-shape HbA1c FBG, adjusted ORs 2.17 1.21 having increased/persistently high ba-PWV, respectively. Additionally, (CV, VIM, SV) significantly progression, ranging 1.20 1.24. Cross-tabulation analysis indicated that third tertile VIM conferred 78% (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.23-2.58) higher progression. Sensitivity demonstrated SD highest score (HVS) adverse outcomes during follow-up.Long-term independently suggesting strong predictor subclinical atherosclerosis participants.

Abstract Background Accurate estimates of the prevalence infections play an important role in COVID-19 surveillance. Older people are known to have higher risks severe outcomes after infection, but whether they also a infection rate remains unclear. To obtain among older people, we synthesized evidence from RT-PCR-based and serological studies. Methods We conducted scoping review using comprehensive search MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase Europe PMC, ClinicalTrials.gov , WHO Research Database December 2019 Oct 2022. included population-based cross-sectional (sero)prevalence studies (i.e., aged >= 65 +/-5 years) who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR tests, antigen or tests. Studies that solely institutional housing excluded. Eligible extracted critically appraised. described mapped (tested by tests) seroprevalence geographical area time. then compared estimated with WHO-reported younger age groups same study. Results identified 202 126 studies, covering 50 countries up October Of 28 prevalence; 104 seroprevalence, ranging 0% Jordan 22.5% United States 2020, 0.41% Brazil 98% Chile 2021. In year ranged 0.0006% China, 52.8% Brazil, while 2021, 0.06% England 41.1% Brazil. The ratio reported <0.01 77.50, where 86% (24/28) than half them >10 times prevalence. One third (32%, 9/28) people. Conclusions Our findings suggest underreporting cases may exist extensively worldwide. Compared groups, less likely be infected two thirds through first years pandemic.

It was common to see that older adults were reluctant be vaccinated for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China. There is a lack of practical prediction models guide COVID-19 vaccination program. A nationwide, self-reported, cross-sectional survey conducted from September 2022 November 2022, including people aged 60 years or older. Stratified random sampling used divide the dataset into derivation, validation, and test datasets at ratio 6:2:2. Least absolute shrinkage selection operator multivariable logistic regression variable screening model construction. Discrimination calibration assessed primarily by area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) curve. total 35057 samples (53.65% males mean age 69.64 ± 7.24 years) finally selected, which constitutes 93.73% valid samples. From 33 potential predictors, 19 variables screened included model. The AUC validation 0.802, with sensitivity, specificity, accuracy 0.732, 0.718 0.729 respectively, similar parameters 0.755, 0.715 0.720, 0.815. no significant differences between predicted values actual observed these groups. based on self-reported characteristics developed could useful predicting willingness vaccines, as well providing recommendations improving vaccine acceptance.

Abstract Background “Obesity paradox” occurs in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients when body mass index (BMI) is applied to define obesity. We examined the association of visceral fat area (VFA) as an obesity measurement with arterial stiffness seven ideal cardiovascular health metrics (ICVHMs). Methods A total 29 048 were included analysis from June 2017 April 2021 10 sites National Metabolic Management Centers. ICVHMs modified recommendations American Heart Association. Brachial‐ankle pulse wave velocity (BaPWV) ≥ 1400 cm/s was employed evaluate increased stiffness. Multivariate regression models used compare different effects BMI and VFA on Results Lower more strongly associated low BaPWV than lower other (adjusted odds ratio [OR], 0.85 [95% confidence interval [CI], 0.80–0.90] vs OR 1.08 CI, 1.00–1.17]). Multivariable‐adjusted ORs for highest VAT range 150‐200 cm OR, 1.26 CI 1.12–1.41]). Compared participants < 100 , among higher VFA, decreased gradually 1.89 (95% 1.73–2.07) who had ≤1 ICVHM 0.39 0.25–0.62) ≥5 ICVHMs. Conclusion In T2DM, using anthropometric measures obesity, relevant risk For describe would be optimal BMI.

China has a lower rate of vaccination among older adults and those who have chronic conditions functional disabilities. As recently ended the zero-COVID policy, understanding factors behind low rates these vulnerable populations can inform immediate policy priorities to save lives for offer lessons world at large. We used fifth wave (2021-22) Health Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), which represented mainland Chinese 45 older. Vaccination status was updated in summer 2022, reflecting current situation because very few additional vaccinations were administered afterward. For unvaccinated, self-reported reasons recorded. Using regression analysis, we investigated determinants non-vaccination, including demographics, status, conditions. In addition, two-thirds respondents had their recorded twice 2021 allowing us examine changes recent year, zeroing on effects government's most campaign. Finally, corroborated results using non-vaccination both years. A total 12900 participants included analysis. By weighted COVID-19 people (≥60 years old) 92.3%, with 88.8% having completed primary series 72.7% received boosters. Only 72.0% oldest-old (≥80 series, 47.1% Regression analysis showed that older, female, unmarried, registered urban Hukou residence, functionally dependent, comorbid less likely receive vaccines. significant increase ethnic minorities, adults, rural residents, dependency observed year after winter when government started push universal vaccination. The 2022 contraindications (48%), advanced ages/frailty/health (21%), problems accessing vaccines (18%), concerns about side or efficacy (9%), never heard vaccine (6%). Nevertheless, as many people, especially oldest disabilities, not yet been fully vaccinated booster doses, exposing them danger infection. Therefore, health authorities should immediately abandon previous practice refusing vaccinate conditions, change people's mistaken perceptions effects, improve access Most importantly, strengthen public trust by making information transparent regarding vaccine's protection effects.
