Background Fibromyalgia (FM) is characterized by widespread chronic pain. Although pain the main symptom, approximately 90% of patients have depression. This study aimed to analyze effects Resistance Training (RT) with low and high intensity on depression in FM. Methods Thirty-eight women FM 31 healthy were allocated low-intensity, high-intensity, preferred-intensity, control groups. The underwent 8 weeks supervised RT, two sessions per week 1 h. low-intensity resistance training group (LIRT) performed sets 12 maximum repetitions. high-intensity (HIRT) four six repetitions, preferred (PI) three sets, eight according patient’s tolerance. did not perform any type exercise. Depression was assessed using Beck inventory before start intervention, after 4 weeks. Results higher levels than without disease. After weeks, there a difference depressive symptoms between HIRT LIRT ( p = 0.048), PI 0.048).
