Background: The effects of climate change negatively affect marine bivalves’ health. Lately, the intensity heatwaves poses serious threats to aquatic environment setting high-risk bivalve farming. Since temperature increases can jeopardize immunity response, pathogen infection becomes more evident. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, increased during process phagocytosis, is confronted by animals’ antioxidant defense system. However, apart from pathogenic infections, responses are also induced seawater increases; Methods: To enlighten status Mytilus galloprovincialis originating mortality events enhanced intense in Thermaikos Gulf, northern Greece, along with Marteilia refringens infection, we examined expression genes related (catalase, CuSOD and mt10) lipid peroxidation levels activity enzymes SOD glutathione reductase); Results: Our results exhibited all these biomarkers. This increase was intensified infected individuals; Conclusions: findings shed light on oxidative farmed mussels led context infection. latter augmented synergistic effect causing a significant damage subsequent defense.
