As urban centers worldwide face the escalating impacts of climate change, rapid urbanization, and increasing water scarcity, need for sustainable management practices to enhance resilience in Anthropocene has become critical. This study explores how ancient practices—including Roman aqueducts, Maya rainwater harvesting systems, Chinese flood control techniques—can be adapted address contemporary challenges modern cities. We evaluate these historical through a lens environmental pressures, including resource scarcity. By integrating methods with technologies, we propose adaptive solutions resilience. Case studies from five cities (Singapore, Copenhagen, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia) illustrate green infrastructure, inspired by techniques, is being successfully implemented manage stormwater, mitigate flooding, improve conservation. technologies—such as advanced filtration systems recycling—these are enhancing their sustainability. The findings suggest that planners can draw valuable lessons design adaptive, climate-resilient balance human needs ecological paper concludes actionable recommendations future planning, emphasizing importance decentralized nature-based solutions, community engagement ensure Anthropocene.
