Abstract Background: Employing a developmental psychopathology framework, we tested the utility of hormesis model in examining strengthening children and youth through limited levels adversity relation to internalizing externalizing outcomes within brain-by-development context. Methods: Analyzing data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development study ( N = 11,878), formed latent factors threat, deprivation, unpredictability. We examined linear nonlinear associations between dimensions symptoms how change resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) default mode network (DMN) Time 1 5 moderates these associations. Results: A cubic association was found threat problems; low-to-moderate family conflict reduced problems. Deprivation also displayed with problems, moderate deprivation associated fewer Unpredictability linearly increased both problem types. Change DMN rsFC significantly moderated link declining facilitating hormesis. Hormetic effects peaked earlier, emphasizing importance sensitive periods timing related earlier experiences. Conclusions: Strengthening environmental is crucial for developing human resilience. Understanding this process requires considering adversity-psychopathology Testing individual differences by brain context will inform preventive intervention programming.

Abstract Background During the last decades, an abundance of studies has investigated childhood adversity in relation to psychosis. This systematic review critically examines methodologies employed investigate psychosis over past decade, including operational definitions, measurement tools and characteristics, psychometric properties instruments used these studies. Study Design followed PRISMA guidelines (registration number CRD42022307096), search following electronic databases: PsychINFO, SCOPUS, Web Science, African Index Medicus (AIM), LILACS, CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE. Our findings show “childhood trauma” being most frequently examined construct, by “child maltreatment” or abuse.” short version Childhood Trauma Questionnaire was dominant instrument. Physical abuse, emotional sexual abuse were investigated, indeed field appears generally focus on child neglect other adversities. Significant heterogeneity observed selection summarization items, with only 59% documenting original validation 22% reporting reliability their datasets. Conclusion highlights substantial methodological field, pointing out biases research These underline need for standardized definitions high-quality enhance validity future this area.
