Human brain organoids, aka cerebral organoids or earlier "mini-brains", are 3D cellular models that recapitulate aspects of the developing human brain. They show tremendous promise for advancing our understanding neurodevelopment and neurological disorders. However, unprecedented ability to model development function

Abstract Neural organoids are laboratory-generated entities that replicate certain structural and functional features of the human brain. Most neural disembodied—completely decoupled from sensory input motor output. As such, questions about their potential capacity for consciousness exceptionally difficult to answer. While not disputing need caution regarding organoid types, this paper appeals two broad constraints on any adequate theory consciousness—the first involving dependence embodiment; second representations—to argue disembodied plausible candidates consciousness.
