Abstract The Fermi paradox points to the apparent contradiction between idea that emergence of life and civilization on Earth is an objective process following general rules Nature there are no visible signs other civilizations beyond Earth. widely discussed in astronomical, biological natural sciences but almost totally ignored by social sciences, even though more than half known explanations deal with intentions behaviours extraterrestrial (ETCs) or aspects evolution technological civilizations. article analyses problem possible solutions from perspective sciences. In this I argue primarily a science problem, most plausible have contain some form explanations. Three types discussed, namely, those related ETCs’ intentions, capacities consequences their decisions activities. attempts explain referring specific goals motives ETCs least plausible. Arguments solid do not convincingly solve paradox. conclude important for whether exist not, it should attract greater attention scientists.
