The catalytic conversion of carbon dioxide into fine chemicals and intermediates is one the most promising approaches to recycling. In this work, we demonstrated that after layered α-zirconium phosphate(α-ZrP) was exfoliated by using tetrabutylammonium hydroxide, a cationic Ru(II) complex ([RuH(CO)(dppp)(en)]Cl, dppp = 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane; en ethylene-diamine) can be intercalated ZrP layers. Notably, as complex-intercalated further modified ionic liquid (BMIMOAc, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate), resulting catalyst exhibited superior activity for N-formylation amines with CO2/H2 produce formamide. detailed characterization revealed also encapsulated interlayer played an additional role in exfoliating ZrP. particular, studies indicated amine molecules intercalate favorably under reaction conditions thus were easily accessible active sites, being beneficial reaction. includes following key steps: CO2 synergistically activated BMIMOAc layers; hydrogen split center form Ru–Hδ−; morpholine layers then participated This implied actually occurred within interlayers, enhancing rate due enrichment reactants. formate species detected reaction, followed dehydrating afford system exhibits huge advantage easy accessibility, high efficiency, recyclability.
