A simple, sustainable, and sensitive monitoring approach of micro/nanoplastics (MNPs) in aqueous samples is crucial since it helps assessing the extent contamination understanding potential risks associated with their presence without causing additional stress to environment. In this study, a novel strategy for qualitative quantitative determination MNPs water by direct solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was proposed first time. Spherical poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) irregularly shaped polyvinyl dichloride (PVDC) were used evaluate feasibility performance method. The results demonstrated that both PMMA PVDC efficiently extracted homemade SPME coating nitrogen-doped porous carbons (N-SPCs) exhibited sufficient thermal decomposition GC-MS injection port. Excellent extraction performances N-SPCs are attributed hydrophobic cross-linking, electrostatic forcing, hydrogen bonding, pore trapping. Methyl methacrylate identified as marker PMMA, while 1,3-dichlorobenzene 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene indicators PVDC. Under optimal conditions, method ultrahigh sensitivity, limit detection 0.0041 μg/L 0.0054 Notably, programmed temperature injector developed discriminate eliminate interferences intrinsic indicator compounds. Owing integration sampling, extraction, injection, into one step SPME, demonstrates exceptional eliminating necessity complex sample pretreatment procedures use organic solvents. Finally, successfully applied real samples.

In this review, a 5-year overview on environmentally friendly approaches for the extraction of most relevant organic pollutants in soil, sediment, particulate matter, and sewage sludge coupled with chromatographic analysis is reported. Organic contaminants encompass various compounds derived from personal care products, industrial chemicals, microplastics, matter combustion, agricultural practices, plasticizer material. The principles green analytical chemistry (GAC) sample preparation (GSP) serve as guideline development more sustainable protocols. This study focuses attention microwave-assisted (MAE), ultrasound-assisted (UAE), matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD), microextraction techniques, such (SPME), stir bar sorptive (SBSE), hollow-fiber liquid-phase (HF-LPME), spray-assisted droplet formation-based (SADF-LPME), dispersive liquid–liquid (DLLME). These represent eco-friendly advanced target analytes environmental solid samples.

Sample treatment plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate analysis of contaminants aqueous, gaseous, and solid matrices. Emerging such as microplastics poly- perfluoroalkyl substances pose challenges due to their ubiquity potential adverse effects on the environment human health. By setting stringent guidelines, environmental protection agencies drive research innovation analytical methodologies. However, current reference methods are based traditional techniques with high use chemicals considerable waste generation. This review highlights importance advanced techniques, including solid-phase extraction microextraction methods, enhanced by novel materials, for preparing samples. Additionally, it discusses innovative formats devices, drone-based systems three-dimensional-printed which expanding scope monitoring. aims provide comprehensive overview trends advances sample preparation over past five years, offering insights into progress made future directions.
