Abstract Three different two dimensional Cd(II)‐based metal−organic frameworks (MOFs) have been synthesized by utilizing same N,N′‐donor ligand and three functionalized dicarboxylate linkers namely isophthalate, 5‐nitroisophthalate 5‐hydroxyisophthalate for compound 1 , 2 3 respectively. The compounds that are isoreticular bi‐walled 2D frameworks, show dual fluorescence emission spectra their π‐π* n‐π* excitation. Compound is consists of unsubstituted bridging isophthalate whereas made with substituted electron withdrawing –NO group donating –OH These electronic environments in MOFs found effective to respond differently towards the constitutional isomers aromatic amines having suitable environment. responses non‐polar –CH containing picolylamine moieties, showing maximum enhancement 2‐picolylamine comparison 3‐ 4‐ isomer derivates. consisting group, more significantly rich phenylenediamines quenching case m‐phenylenediamine compared ortho para isomers. change functionalisation from helps detect deficient aminopyridines; where has observed presence 3‐aminopyridine contrast its other
