CO2 storage in geological formations, particularly deep saline aquifers, is a critical component of carbon capture and technology, offering significant potential for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. However, high salinity these aquifers poses the risk salt precipitation, leading to pressurization injectivity reduction. Developing method prevent precipitation remains challenge, this an area that study focused on. Dissolved-water injection (dwCO2 injection) proposed here as novel where water dissolved before into aquifer. Presence stream prevents more dissolution (evaporation) and, hence, precipitation. Before presenting order provide good mechanistic understanding interactions involved process, six different scenarios are examined using CMG-GEM simulator within carbonate The results showed saturating with reduced nearly zero, dissolving 2000 ppmv decreased one-third. It should be noted humid requires special methods tackle challenges, including corrosion hydrate formation risks, paper also discusses them.
