Chile has numerous areas that lack sewage collection, including in the capital city. Sanitation these cases is managed through individual solutions like septic tanks or small wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) use biological treatment, usually activated sludge with extended aeration. In general, design of systems adheres to quality standards mandated by regulations for discharge, infiltration, irrigation. this scenario, traditional methods increasing dissolved oxygen (DO) hydraulic retention time (HRT) were unable effectively reduce excessive nutrients. Therefore, literature related nutrient excess and denitrification consulted reviewed compile different suitable presented issue. Potential modeled verified using free simulation software WRc STOAT. The accurately predicted unsatisfactory results current setup provided parameters proposed modifications. Experience, precise user definition, influential characteristics, modeling are essential WWTPs.
