As an emerging class of hybrid materials, donor–acceptor (D–A) crystals with photoactive organic and inorganic components have gradually become ideal platform for photochromic materials. Wherein the most available are electron-poor naphthalenediimide, pyridinium, triazine derivatives, units electron-rich polyoxometalates metal halides. Herein, we introduced pyridinium moieties into naphthalenediimide core by conjugated bonds so as to increase electron deficiency species enhanced properties. Four anion-π interaction directed crystals, (Me2DPNDI)3·(PW12O40)2 (1), (Et2DPNDI)3·(DMSO)2·(PMo12O40)2 (2), (Et2DPNDI)3·(PW12O40)2 (3), (Et2DPNDI)2·(SiMo12O40) (4), been obtained, which possess reversible, naked-eye perceptible color changes varying light response rates. These rates follows: 3 > 1 4 2. expected, such D–A naphthalenediimide-pyridinium salts feature both photo- thermally induced transfer pathways, along interactions. Consequently, they demonstrate a higher rate photochromism compared those hybrids containing or derivatives acceptors.

Two novel 3D inorganic-organic hybrids based on [V6O18]6-/[V3O9]3- clusters, [Cu18(bbpy)18(V6O18)6]·3H2O (1) and [Cu4Ag4(pty)4(V3O9)4]·H2O (2) (bbpy = 3,5-bis(1-benzimidazole) pyridine, pty 4'-(4″-pyridyl)-2,2':6',2″-terpyridine), were isolated in the same POV/Cu/N-heterocycle ligand reaction systems. Hybrids 1 2 possess three-dimensional bimetallic frameworks derived from clusters Cu-organic complexes. In 1, bbpy ligands are grafted by Cu2+ to a grid ribbon 2D sheet, which connected with benzene-like [V6O18]6- yield framework. 2, helical {O-V-O-V-}n chains bridged Cu(II) ions into layer including eight-membered rings {V6Cu2} six-membered {V4Cu2}, adjoining sheets joined Ag-N coordination bonds form framework structure. Moreover, hybrid has superior electrocatalytic properties for nitrite reduction oxidation of ascorbic acid efficiencies 397.2 96%, respectively. Hybrid displays coordinated performance toward through V Cu centers. Meanwhile, corresponding theoretical studies conducted evaluate active sites charge distribution.

A combination of polyoxometalates and viologens to construct discoloration materials with charge transfer has become attractive presently. In this work, four kinds POM–viologen color-changing were successfully synthesized, namely, [Cu(1,4-Mbby)2(HPMoVI10MoV2O40)] (1), [H2(1,4-Mbby)2]·(SiMo12O40) (2, 1,4-Mbby·Cl = (1-(4-methyl-benzyl)-[4,4']bipyridinyl-1-ium)chloridate), [H2(Bypy)2]·(SiMo12O40) (3), [H(Bypy)]·(Bypy-2)1/2·(PMo12O40) (4, Bypy 1-benzyl-4,4′-bipyridyinium chloride, Bypy-2 1,1′-dibenzyl-4,4′-bipyridine chloride). compound 1, a [Cu(1,4-Mbby)2]4+ subunit caps on the Keggin anion build monosupporting cluster. Compounds 2–4 are discrete structures dissociative POMs viologens. All compounds 1–4 show good reversible photochromic properties under xenon lamp (300–400 nm) irradiation. Under stimulation current, also electrochromic within certain range applied voltage. The these due generation free viologen radicals transfer. Based their properties, they can be many fields, such as ultraviolet detectors, inkless printing, visual detection heavy metal ions. These practical applications positive significance for life production.

Abstract Chromic materials with multi‐stimuli responses have received tremendous attention from industry and academia for their potential applications in smart windows, data storage, military camouflage, molecular switches, modulators, etc. To develop multi‐stimuli‐responsive color‐changing high sensitivity stability, a polyoxometalate‐based copper‐viologen framework, formulated as Cu 2 (H O) (L) [PW 12 O 40 ][OH − ]·2H ( HNU‐97, H L 2+ = 1,1′‐(1,4‐phenylenebis(methylene))bis(4‐carboxypyridinium)), was prepared by mild one‐step self‐assembly strategy. Structural analysis shows that HNU‐97 presents supramolecular structure formed one‐dimensional framework polyoxometalates through rich hydrogen bonds, anion‐π interactions, Discoloration studies show exhibits reversible rapid response characteristics to various external stimuli, such 10 s UV radiation, 5 min heating, ammonium/amine vapors. This mechanism reveals different excitation sources lead preferential transfer directions of electrons, resulting discoloration phenomena. construct stimuli‐chromic good mechanical properties, we successfully introduced into the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/glycerol (Gly) hydrogel obtain composite HNU‐97@PVA/Gly . Remarkably, combines merits each component can achieve significant behavior under both irradiation ammonia atmosphere. work will provide an idea construction multiple stimuli‐responsive materials.
