A Ce(III) phosphinate and a Ce(IV) phosphostibonate have been assembled by the reaction of phosphinic acid with salts. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) studies reveal formation rare triangular oxo-cluster [CeIII3(Ph3CHPO2)]6Cl3(CH3OH)(H2O)8] (1) fascinating hexanuclear containing ions [CeIV6 (p-ClC6H4SbV)4(μ4-O)4(μ3-O)4(t-BuPO3)8(μ2-OCH3)8] (2). The molecular architecture 2 showcased an interesting correlation platonic solids, wherein Ce(IV), Sb(V), P(V) were found to be present in vertices octahedron, tetrahedron, cube, respectively. Under mild conditions, 1 exhibited capability act as catalysts for sulfoxidation presence hydrogen peroxide, acting homogeneous catalyst heterogeneous catalyst. Both showed high conversion various substrates, showing moderate selectivity while selectivity. Moreover catalyzed oxidation 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (CEES) nontoxic sulfoxide (CEESO)
