This study is aims to evaluate the beneficial effects of polyphenols-rich extracts from walnut green husk (WGHP) on prevention obesity, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), vascular endothelial dysfunction and colon tissue damage in rats fed high fat diet for 8 weeks. HPLC analysis showed that epicatechin, rutin caffeic acid are main components WGHP. Administration WGHP HF-fed effectively prevented abnormal body weight gain, lipid metabolism disorder, oxidative stress inflammation. Biochemical histopathological observation consistently confirmed protective NAFLD, caused by HF. In addition, 16S RNA sequencing results reduced Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio reversed relative abundance Ruminococcaceae-UCG-014 Fusicatenibacter. These suggest may serve as a nutritional agent protecting liver, cardiovascular rats.

Moringa oleifera ( M. ) is a natural plant that has excellent nutritional and medicinal potential. leaves (MOL) contain several bioactive compounds. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential effect MOL polysaccharide (MOLP) on intestinal flora in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC) mice. DSS-induced deemed be well-characterized experimental model for investigating protective drugs UC. In study, we stimulated mice with DSS 4% 7 days prepared high dose MOLP (MOLP-H) order its UC mice, comparing three groups, including control, model, + MOLP-H (100 mg/kg/day). At end experiment, feces were collected, changes analyzed based 16S rDNA throughput sequencing technology. results showed Shannon, Simpson, observed species indices abundance decreased group compared control group. However, mentioned above increased According beta diversity analysis, low bacterial distance between respectively. addition, group, relative Firmicutes Helicobacter increased, while treatment improves health by enhancing number beneficial organisms, , reducing pathogenic such as . conclusion, these findings suggest may viable prebiotic health-promoting properties.

Salvia-Nelumbinis naturalis (SNN) formula is a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, and has been confirmed to be effective in treating non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), but the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. Here we showed that 4-week SNN administration alleviated methionine-choline-deficiency (MCD) diet-induced hepatic steatosis inflammation as well serum levels of alanine transaminase (ALT) increase C57BL/6 mice. Fecal 16S rDNA sequencing indicated altered structure gut microbiota partially reversed dysbiosis. Simultaneously, analyzed fecal BA profile using liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UPLC-TQMS) -based metabolomics, found modulated profile, predominantly increased microbiomes related species (e.g. nordeoxycholic acid) which turn, activated farnesoid X receptor (FXR)-fibroblast growth factor 15 (FGF15) signaling pathway colon not ileum. The activation intestinal FXR-FGF15 was accompanied by liver protein kinase B (PKB/Akt) phosphorylation, decrease p-65 subunit NF-κB resulting less CD68 positive macrophages, inflammatory cytokine IL-1β TNF-α expression. Our results established link between treatment, microbiota, NASH, might shed light into behind beneficial effects on thus provide evidence for clinical application SNN.
