Horticultural crops are vulnerable to diverse microbial infections, which have a detrimental impact on their growth, fruit quality, and productivity. Currently, chemical pesticides widely employed manage diseases in horticultural crops, but they negative effects the environment, human health, soil physiochemical properties, biodiversity. Additionally, use of has facilitated development spread resistant pathovars, emerged as serious concern contemporary agriculture. Nonetheless, adverse consequences environment public health worried scientists greatly recent years, led switch biocontrol agents such bacteria, fungi, insects control plant pathogens. Biocontrol (BCAs) form an integral part organic farming, is regarded future sustainable Hence, harnessing potential BCAs important viable strategy disease way that also ecofriendly can improve health. Here, we discuss role biological crops. We different microbial-based fungal, bacterial, viral management. Next, factors affect performance under field conditions. This review highlights genetic engineering enhance efficiency other growth traits. Finally, highlight challenges opportunities biocontrol-based management horticulture research directions boost efficacy applications.

The discovery of new therapeutic alternatives for cancer treatment is essential improving efficacy and specificity, overcoming resistance, enabling a more personalized approach each patient. We investigated the antitumor activity crude ethanolic extract fungus Trichoderma asperelloides (ExtTa) its interaction with chemotherapeutic drugs. It was observed, by MTT cytotoxicity assay, that ExtTa significantly reduced cell viability in breast adenocarcinoma, glioblastoma, lung carcinoma, melanoma, colorectal sarcomas lines. highest selectivity were found against glioblastoma T98G HCT116 approximately four times cytotoxic to those tumor cells than non-cancer A synergistic effect between doxorubicin osteosarcoma Saos-2 cells, as well 5-fluorouracil carcinoma using CompuSyn software. Pathogenic fungi pose a significant threat to global health and agriculture, contributing wide range of infections in both humans plants. These organisms produce an array secondary metabolites, which, while not essential for primary growth, play crucial roles their adaptability, virulence, interactions with host environments (Yang et al., 2022, Guo 2023). The exploration these metabolites has uncovered diverse bioactivities, ranging from antimicrobial immunosuppressive properties involvement fungal morphogenesis toxin production(Lara da Costa 2022).
