The contamination of farmland soil with cadmium (Cd) poses a significant threat to the safety and quality agricultural products. Herbivorous pests may develop adaptations survive in Cd-contaminated over time, potentially leading population outbreaks. gut microbiota plays crucial role this adaptation process, though mechanisms involved remain unclear. This study examined effects two pepper cultivars Capsicum annuum (Chiyan, CY, Tianlanse, TLS) under Cd on larval growth, development, food utilization, Spodoptera litura larvae. inherent toxicity TLS is higher than that as evidenced by reduction larvae survival rate control. In had positive effect at low concentrations negative high concentrations. Briefly, 5 mg/kg CY increased efficiency conversion ingested (ECI) relative growth (RGR), whereas 10 decreased nutritional indices [higher consumption (RCR), approximate digestibility (AD), lower digested (ECD)]. TLS, significant, dose-dependent, weight, ECD, (RGR). thus plant toxins Meta-barcode sequencing 16S rRNA gene revealed microbial diversity was affected cultivar but not concentration. fed most frequent bacterial genera were Enterococcus Pluralibacte, predominant genus Our findings reveal variations how impacts S. across different imply alterations communities could play joint detoxification plant-derived toxins.
