Abstract In order to develop a sustainable agriculture respecting the environment and reduce chemical inputs, new strategy has emerged in recent years, based on use of products targeting plant natural defense growth mechanisms. this context, few years ago we demonstrated existence plants regulatory peptides called miPEPs for ‘microRNA-encoded peptides’. miRNAs are small RNAs that down-regulate expression numerous genes eukaryotes. increase amount their cognate miRNA, resulting an even greater decrease targeted by these miRNAs. Thus, application artificial miPEP causes phenotype associated with change corresponding miRNA. More recently also identified peptides, namely cPEPs ‘complementary peptides’, capable enhancing activity given protein, independently any transcriptional activity. Moreover, as miPEPs, external makes it possible regulate phenotypes proteins. This review highlights most advances potential agronomy improve development stress tolerance.
