Three 2,4-diarylpyrroles were synthesized starting from 4-nitrobutanones and the crystal structures of two derivatives analysed. These are 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(thiophen-2-yl)-1 H -pyrrole, C 15 13 NOS, 3-(4-bromophenyl)-2-nitroso-5-phenyl-1 16 11 BrN 2 O. Although pyrroles without substituents at α-position with respect to N atom very air sensitive tend polymerize, we succeeded in growing an adequate for X-ray diffraction analysis. Further derivatization using sodium nitrite afforded a nitrosyl pyrrole derivative, which crystallized triclinic space group P \overline{1} Z = 6. Thus, herein report first structure pyrrole. Interestingly, co-operative hydrogen bonds this NO-substituted lead trimeric bifurcated halogen ends, forming two-dimensional (2D) layer interstitial voids having radius 5 Å, similar some reported macrocyclic porphyrins.
