A palladium-catalyzed cyclization coupling of iodoarene-tethered alkynes with cyclobutanone-derived N-tosylhydrazones is reported, providing a convenient and efficient approach to benzofuran-3-cyclobutylidenes. On this basis, spirocyclobutanes can be generated smoothly in an cascade manner by the addition dienophiles. Good yields scalability are demonstrated. Sequential intramolecular carbopalladation, palladium-carbene migratory insertion, δ-hydride elimination, cycloaddition processes involved.

Published: Jan. 16, 2023

A novel strategy to access unsymmetrically linked heterocycles via palladium-catalyzed acylcycloimidoylation of alkyne-tethered carbamoyl chlorides with isocyanides has been developed. Functionalized were successfully applied as imine-containing heterocycle precursors capture the vinyl-PdII intermediate, which was generated from a syn-carbopalladation alkyne, followed by subsequent intramolecular C-H bond activation/imidoylative Heck reactions. Methylene oxindoles within Z-tetrasubstituted olefins obtained in high yields excellent stereoselectivities. Broad functional groups well tolerated under mild reaction conditions.

The binaphthyl stabilized palladium nanoparticles (Pd-BNP) catalyzed single-step, stereoselective domino synthesis of symmetrically and unsymmetrically all-carbon tetrasubstituted olefin containing oxindoles from readily accessible anilides has been developed. Pd-BNP catalyst showed a wide range functional group tolerance that enabled building library heteroaromatics. This reusable Pd reflected its utility in the biologically important AMP-activated protein kinase deprived any metal contamination. nanocatalyst was easily recovered reused five times without appreciable loss particle size or catalytic activity.
