Natural deep eutectics solvents (NADES), owing to their high solvation capacity and nontoxicity, are actively being sought for many technological applications. Herein, we report a series of novel NADES based on choline chloride plant-derived polyphenols. Most the obtained phenolic have wide liquid range thermal stability above 150 °C. Among them, small-sized polyphenols, like pyrogallol, vanillyl alcohol, or gentisic acid, lead low-viscosity liquids with ionic conductivities in order 10-3 S cm-1 at room temperature. Interestingly, polyphenols possess valuable properties as therapeutic agents, antioxidants, adhesives, redox-active compounds, among others. Thus, evaluated potential these two applications: bioadhesives corrosion protection. The mixture chloride-vanillyl alcohol (2:3 mol ratio) gelatin resulted highly adhesive viscoelastic (adhesive stress ≈ 135 kPa), affording shear thinning behavior. Furthermore, chloride-tannic acid (20:1) showed an extraordinary ability coordinate iron ions, reaching excellent inhibitive efficiencies mild steel

Abstract Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are binary or ternary mixtures of compounds that possess significant melting point depressions relative to the pure isolated components. The discovery DESs has been a major breakthrough with multiple fields benefitting from their low cost and tunable physiochemical properties. However, tailoring for specific applications through practically unlimited synthetic combinations can be as much hindrance benefit given expense time‐required perform large‐scale experimental measurements. This emphasizes need fast computational tools capable making accurate predictions DES properties exclusively molecular structure. Yet, these systems not trivial model simulate at atomic level exceedingly nonideal behaviors, asymmetry components, complexity electrostatic interactions. Despite challenge, reports featuring quantum mechanical (QM) methods have provided understanding into relationship between depression unique complex hydrogen bond network present in DESs. Classical dynamics (MD) examined bulk‐phase solvent organization conjunction thermodynamic transport Machine learning (ML) algorithms shown great potential structure–property prediction tools. Overall, this review highlights accomplishments meaningfully advanced our strives give reader sense overall strengths drawbacks methodologies employed while hinting promises advances come. article is categorized under: Software > Simulation Methods
