Abstract Fabrics consisting of cotton‐core/polypyrrole (PPy)‐sheath fibers (cotton/PPy fabrics) are synthesized by aqueous chemical oxidative seeded polymerization pyrrole and utilized as a solar evaporation device. Scanning electron microscopy studies elemental microanalyses reveal the thickness PPy sheath increases from few tens nm to ≈200 with an increase monomer concentration in system. The temperature cotton/PPy fabrics upon irradiation artificial sunlight ≈33–45 °C dry state, due light‐to‐heat photothermal conversion component. Thanks property fabrics, water impregnated within can evaporate efficiently under sunlight. Light‐induced experiment using seawater confirms that ionic concentrations drastically decreases, indicating successful desalination.
