Pickering emulsion polymerization is a practical method to fabricate functional composite materials. However, most reported systems proceed homogeneously within the stabilized monomer phase and create nondegradable chemical bonds. Here, interfacial polycondensation between aromatic aldehydes polymercaptans developed using sustainable cellulose nanoparticles as stabilizer. When sulfonated nanocrystals (S-CNCs) were utilized, they also catalyzed produce oxidatively degradable S,S-acetal groups on polymer chains. The influence of structures behavior properties compared.

Recyclable and degradable polymer networks fabricated with sustainable biomass have been extensively studied. Fluorescence is a value-adding performance to these materials. Herein, we report facile strategy obtain fluorescent epoxy by cross-linking the glycidyl ether of aromatic vanillin flexible linkers (1,6-hexanedithiol, 1,6-hexanediamine). In contrast, rigid dithiol or diamine cross-linkers show weak no fluorescence due suppressed aggregation hydroxyl groups rings. All are recyclable via dynamic dithioacetal imine groups, while also endow resins superior stability in hydrolytic conditions oxidative degradability. The current study provides feasible path toward sufficient consideration for sustainability.
