Visible light-triggered photochemical reactions in aqueous media are highly valuable to tailor molecular structures and properties an ecofriendly manner. Here we report visible light-induced catalyst-free [2 + 2] cycloadditions of thermoresponsive dendronized styryltriazines, which show tunable microconfinement guest dyes media. These styryltriazines constituted conjugated mono- or tristyryltriazines, carry hydrophilic dendritic oligoethylene glycol (OEG) pendants. They underwent efficient form cyclobutane dimers oligomers water through irradiation with light 400 nm, their cycloaddition behavior was dominated by architectures solvent conditions. Dendronization OEGs also afforded them characteristic phase transition temperatures the range 36-65 °C, can be further modulated photocycloaddition styryltriazine chromophores. Importantly, microenvironments media, encapsulate hydrophobic solvatochromic Nile red exhibit variable photophysical properties. The encapsulated dye simultaneously released noninvasive reactions.
