Abstract Over the past two decades, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have captured significant attention as an emergent class of that unique properties and applications in differing fields chemistry. One area where DES systems find utility is design polymeric gels, often referred to “eutectogels,” which can be prepared either using a replace traditional solvent, or monomers form part themselves. Due extensive network intramolecular interactions (e.g., hydrogen bonding) ionic species exist systems, eutectogels possess appealing material properties—high adhesive strength, tuneable viscosity, rapid polymerization kinetics, good conductivity, well high strength flexibility. In addition, non‐covalent crosslinking approaches are possible due inherent these materials. This review considers several key eutectogels, including organic electronics, wearable sensor technologies, 3D printing resins, adhesives, range various biomedical applications. The design, synthesis, discussed, addition advantages this synthetic approach comparison gel design. Perspectives on future directions field also highlighted.

Deep eutectic solvents are an exciting class of designer that increasingly gaining popularity. based on amino acids particularly interesting for biomedical applications due to their potential low toxicity. However, very few have been reported date, and only one these has comprehensively studied, made from a combination proline glycerol. Here, we report the first time systematic investigation into acid-based deep solvents, with particular focus structural features promote formation influence viscosity, refractive index, surface tension thermal behavior. Of 22 (and related compounds) examined, 3 (lysine, arginine and, as previously reported, proline) formed stable homogenous liquids in glycerol or ethylene glycol. For mixtures, it was found second component (glycerol glycol) had much more significant physical properties than identity acid. Most significantly, far fewer readily generally assumed. This is work systematically characterize such, paves way future solvents.

Iontronics has propelled the development of innovative devices that can be made transient and possess distinct functionalities as compared to traditional electronics. The combination deep eutectic solvents (DESs), more broadly, biopolymers enabled preparation eutectogels, a group ionically conducting materials capable operating over wider window temperatures than hydrogels. However, eutectogels based on generally exhibit limited thermal stability at high temperatures, which their applicability in iontronics. In this study, thermally stable (melting point above 79 °C degradation ∼110 °C) is demonstrated by combining agar with hydrated sorbitol. Additionally, all-natural agar-based eutectogel ionic conductivity (1.1–3.4 mS cm–1), tensile strength (140 kPa), compression (500–600 kPa). Furthermore, presence choline chloride imparts notable antifungal activity against C. albicans, A. niger, Corynespora sp. Leveraging these properties, were tested strain sensors, broadening application next-generation wearable soft robotics resisting microbial colonization.
