Abstract This paper introduces an innovative strategy for preparing sustainable food packaging composite material comprising water‐soluble PVA and varied content of antimicrobial ZnO ash (0, 1, 5, 10) wt.%. Following the approach, nanoparticles are synthesized using waste papers in a simple efficient process. Among composites, PVA/ZnO (5 wt.%) achieved significant efficacy, with inhibition zones 40 ± 0.01 mm gram‐positive 37 0.02 gram‐negative bacteria. Such performance surpasses many conventional composites. Additionally, biodegraded within days showed excellent renewable properties. The application fruit vegetables was evaluated by monitoring variation physical appearance, weight loss rate, pH conditions. Also, antifungal test assessed through bread. tests revealed that while polyethylene (PE) films allowed quick spoilage due to pathogens, packets maintained freshness, underscoring its superior Therefore, improved preservation properties indicate is promising practical solution applications. Highlights Novel composite. Easy, ecofriendly synthesis film as functional material. High property ash. effective system. Superior activity
