Enhancing the "antenna effect" of ligands and promoting energy transfer to a lanthanide metal center is one most effective ways construct complex-based emitters with bright emissions. Herein, highly stable nanoclusters (Ln9Zn8; Ln = Dy, Tb, Eu, or Gd) were constructed using Zn(II) metalloligand protection strategy, "dual antenna was selectively turned on enhance luminescence Eu9Zn8. The enabled dual effect for Eu9Zn8, resulting in its solid state being significantly stronger than that Tb9Zn8. Eu9Zn8 has excellent optical sensing properties Al3+, Fe3+, Cr2O72–. Notably, ultrasmall nanocluster showed cellular uptake labeling capabilities after incubation HeLa, MDA–MB–231, HepG2, H9c2, 4T1, SK–OV–3, MCF–7 cells. This work opens up new horizons application biological imaging.

Phenolic organic compounds are widely used industrial chemicals that exist extensively in the environment and have a significant impact on human health. 4-Nitrophenol (4-NP) is typical phenolic compound found aqueous environments. Efficient detection of 4-NP wastewater highly challenging due to complexity testing environmental samples. Herein, luminescent lanthanide metal-organic framework (MOF) sensor based Eu3+ ion {[Eu(HL)(L)(H2O)]·2H2O}n (EuMOF; H2L = 5-(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid) was successfully synthesized for efficient wastewater. Fluorescence sensing experiments revealed could greatly quench EuMOF fluorescence. Subsequently, applied distilled water, tap river treated wastewater, exhibiting high sensitivity, fast response within 30 s, selectivity, excellent reusability, low limit. Finally, fluorescence quenching mechanism explored attributed competitive absorption irradiated light between ligand.

Clenbuterol (CLB) as an illegal feed additive may cause a great security risk to food safety. However, convenient and efficient detection means for CLB in practical application remain formidable challenge. Herein, stable Eu-based organic framework {[H2N(CH3)2]2[Eu2(ttca)2]·H2O}n (compound 1) (H4ttca = [1,1′:2′,1″-terphenyl]-4,4′,4″,5′-tetracarboxylic acid) has been harvested, exhibiting excellent chemical stability thermal stability. Luminescence investigation reveals that compound 1 can sensitively selectively detect without being affected by different components from simulated serum urine (limit detection: 22.7 nM). Furthermore, sensor also be applicable recognition real swine feeds, presenting anti-interference performance. The good cyclicity of endows determination with many advantages: low cost, high stability, simplicity. Importantly, view the indication luminescence color (red blue), test membranes were fabricated employed fast detection, providing valuable scheme visual monitoring meat products. Usually, complexes with different connections and shapes are constructed by regulating the substituents. However, it is extremely challenging to construct two lanthanide dimensions only fine-tuning substituents of ligands, especially (−CH3 −CH2CH3) almost similar physical chemical properties. Herein, multidentate chelating connection modes were successfully using a multicomponent "one-pot method" under guidance coordination method (MCC). They 11-nuclear molecular cluster (Dy11) metal–organic layer (2D-Dy). Specifically, when selected ligand an imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde derivative its substituent −CH3, layered 2D-Dy obtained. The linker [Dy(HL1)3] propeller configuration formed Dy(III) ion acylhydrazone (HL1) condensation three salicylhydrazides 1-methyl-1H-imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde. above linkers further linked alternately propeller-shaped [Dy(NO3)3] as secondary building unit (SBU) form 2D-Dy. In addition, changing −CH3 on −CH2CH3, we obtained example Dy11 epitaxial assembly ions hourglass-shaped Dy9 core, formula [Dy11(HL2)8(μ3–OH)8(μ4-O)2(CH3O)4(NO3)4](NO3)5 18CH3OH. was bombarded high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HRESI-MS) peaks various fragments captured.
