Abstract In this study, a new boron doped carbon dots@chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (B-CDs@CS/PVA) hydrogel was prepared for methylene blue (MB) removal from aqueous solution. The B-CDs were first synthesized using orange peel with the addition of boric acid by microwave heating process and then embedded chitosan PVA. structure characterization B-CDs@CS/PVA performed Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), differential calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TG), UV–Vis spectrophotometer fluorescence spectrophotometer. results showed that solution an abundance hydroxyl carbonyl functional groups exhibited UV absorption properties. There is strong interaction between CS/PVA, which improved crystallinity thermal stability hydrogels. adsorption performance hydrogels MB studied through batch experiments. maximum capacity B-CDs/PVA 3.573 mg/g 12 h. addition, it found behavior obeyed pseudo-second-order kinetic Freundlich models. composite are promising adsorbent dye wastewater purification.
