Polypropylene composites are widely used for their excellent properties, but poor flame retardance is a major concern. The phosphorus content of the material in intumescent retardant (IFR) has direct effect on retarding smoke and dehydrating to carbon during combustion. This study presents hybrid (MPA@ZrP-Zn) synthesized by noncovalent bonding between melamine phytic acid molecules, containing large number atoms system. Theoretical calculations confirm that structure formed zinc ions phytate (MPA) more stable, overall electrophilicity index at level moderate Lewis acid. In addition, Zr-Zn bimetallic significantly improves drip resistance IFR reduces emissions UL-94 LOI tests have shown PP with MPA@ZrP-Zn (PPZn30) can achieve V-0 rating 33.5% value. THR PHRR were 15.1% 54.2% lower, respectively, PPZn30 (compared pure PP), ID/IG curves further indicate higher degree graphitization layer combustion residue, which should be ascribed effect. Therefore, this work puts forward strategy high-performance exhibit huge applications electrical appliances energy vehicles.
