A simple catalytic method for self-coupling of secondary alcohols leading to the synthesis β-branched ketones under mild conditions is reported. Well-defined ruthenium pincer complex catalyzed reactions. Optimization studies revealed that sodium tert-butoxide an appropriate base this transformation. Functionalized aryl methanols, heteroaryl and linear branched aliphatic underwent facile Mechanistic both catalyst are crucial achieve dehydrogenation ketones, their subsequent controlled aldol condensation, further hydrogenation α,β-unsaturated intermediates, selective formation ketone products. Notably, noninnocent PNP ligand which displays amine-amide metal–ligand cooperation operative in a played key role facilitating alcohols. Liberated molecular hydrogen water only byproducts.
