The solar-driven photocatalytic reduction of CO2 into fuels using a C3N4-based photocatalyst has shown great application potential in addressing challenges related to energy and emission. However, this process suffers from severe charge recombination sluggish H2O oxidation kinetics, resulting low efficiency. In study, 2D/2D S-scheme heterojunction by combining oxygen vacancy-rich BiVO4 nanoflakes with C3N4 nanosheets (denoted as Ov-BVO/CN) was fabricated mitigate the aforementioned issues, where serves water booster center. By leveraging synergistic effects lamellar morphology an charge-transfer pathway, Ov-BVO/CN achieves efficient separation while maintaining maximized redox capabilities. Moreover, theoretical calculations demonstrated that Ov on surface reverses rate-limiting step reducing its barrier, thereby accelerating reaction kinetics. optimized demonstrates remarkably improved evolution rates for CO (13.8 μmol g–1 h–1) CH4 (5.9 h–1), which are approximately 3.8 3.5 times higher than those CN under visible-light irradiation, respectively. This work highlights design fabrication highly heterostructure photocatalysts photoreduction.

Design of hierarchical hollow nanoheterostructure materials through interfacial and defect engineering is an innovative approach for achieving optimal charge separation dynamics photon harvesting efficiency. Herein, we have described a facile technique to fabricate MOF-derived C, N-doped-Co3O4 (C, N-Co3O4) dodecahedral particles enwrapped with MgIn2S4 nanosheets enhanced N2 reduction performance. ZIF-67 was initially used as sacrificial template prepare N-Co3O4 using carbonization route followed by low-temperature calcination treatment. The controlled synthetic protocol not only led nonmetal doping but also produced interwoven carbon matrix that improved the photoelectron mobility. Density functional theory calculations further substantiated creation atomic defects substitution C at tetrahedral Co2+ sites N lattice O2– Co3O4 structure. subsequently coupled N-Co3O4/MgIn2S4 [C, N-CM (X)] p–n heterojunctions. photocatalytic study revealed NH4+ ion production activity (1:1) material (334 μmol g–1 h–1) significantly higher (4–10 times) than pure components. composite ascribed its distinct topological features, superior carrier dynamics, afforded large number surface-active sites.

Surface modification of cheap light-absorbing materials by noble-metal-free molecular catalysts to construct high efficiency photocatalytic systems has recently attracted great research interest but remains a challenge. Here, we constructed carbon nitride-based composite photocatalysts through interfacial covalently assembling tripodal Fe(II)-terpyridyl (Fe-TerPyTa)n coordination oligomers on oxidized graphitic nitride (O-C3N4) via surface-initiated alternative reaction between TerPyTa and Fe(BF4)2. The obtained O-C3N4@(Fe-TerPyTa)n possesses visible-light-absorbing C3N4 active Fe-TerPyTa with superior capability in CO2 reduction. Due the well-defined structure integrated functionality, O-C3N4@(Fe-TerPyTa)1 hybrid catalyst displays significantly enhanced catalytic performance reduction outstanding CO selectivity (almost 100%) maximum evolution rate 91.1 μmol g-1 h-1, which is nearly 100-fold higher than that pristine O-C3N4. fluorescence emission, time-resolved fluorescence, electrochemical impedance spectrum studies indicate improved mainly attributed direct covalent coordinative interactions oligomer Such configuration can enhance charge transfer from O-C3N4 redox center Fe-TerPyTa, further passes electrons molecules produce CO. Moreover, due kinetical preference for reduce H2O-to-H2, reducing products be regulated pure its CO/H2 mixture (analogue syngas) tunable ratios changing water content solution.
