With the growing global energy crisis and environmental pollution, developing sustainable technologies is urgent. Hydrogen, a clean source with high density water as its only byproduct, promising alternative to fossil fuels. Electrolytic splitting green hydrogen production method, but efficiency limited by slow kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Developing efficient OER catalysts crucial improving this process. This article reviews principles electrolytic splitting, in-cluding HER mechanisms, key evaluation parameters such overpotential, Tafel slope, EIS, ECSA, stability. It highlights transition met-al-based catalysts, particularly NiFe LDH, which enhances performance through lattice mechanism (LOM). Future research should focus on optimizing catalyst design advance technology.
