The
contamination
of
freshwater
by
industrial
pollutants
poses
significant
health
risks,
highlighting
the
urgent
need
for
cost-effective,
multifunctional
materials
to
remove
diverse
environmental
pollutants.
Motivated
pressing
need,
we
have
developed
a
class
tertiary
amine-centered
dithiocarbamate
(DTC)-based
cross-linked
polymers
(CPs)
fast
and
efficient
removal
from
environment.
Furthermore,
subsequent
synthesis,
tunability
side
chain
was
achieved
integrating
two
different
types
functional
groups:
CP-1,
which
contains
benzyl
(aromatic)
group,
CP-2,
incorporates
methyl
(aliphatic)
group.
synthesized
were
characterized
via
various
techniques
including
solid-state
13C
NMR,
FT-IR,
TG-DTA,
SEM,
EDAX,
DSC.
polymeric
employed
dyes,
radioactive
iodine,
heavy
metals
toxic
mercury
lead
ions.
CPs
removed
iodine
water
as
well
air
with
an
inordinate
uptake
capacity
>6.5
g/g
vapor
phase,
demonstrating
very
high
uptake.
In
line,
benzyl-containing
CP
has
azo
dyes
within
5
s
capacities,
i.e.,
2315.46,
1138.01,
588.23
mg/g
Eriochrome
Black
T,
Congo
Red,
Methyl
Orange,
respectively.
Moreover,
material
effectively
eliminated
metals,
(Hg2+)
(Pb2+),
capacities
316.56
98.70
mg/g,
also
been
successfully
in
column
chromatographic
purification
contaminated
practical
application.
Overall,
DTC-based
are
versatile
materials,
showed
facile
both
aliphatic
aromatic
moieties,
thermal
stability
able
few
seconds
followed
implementation.
