The application of organic molecular crystals is currently limited by their poor mechanical properties. Crystal engineering could be an effective approach to design and modify with different structures diverse other In this work, we synthesized a series N-salicylideneaniline derivatives (Schiff Bases) substituents, which exhibited various mechano-responsive behaviors like two-dimensional (2D) elasticity, plasticity, twisting, fracture. Besides that, distinct fluorescence emission were observed due crystal structures. Exploring high-performance flexible actuators derived from natural resources is crucial for the development of green and environmentally friendly smart devices. In this study, we exfoliated silk using a deep eutectic solvent (DES) to obtain nanofibers with average diameters lengths in ranges 30–40 2–5 μm, respectively. After DES treatment, internal secondary conformation changed; concentration β-sheets increased; random coil structure was destroyed. Furthermore, nanofibrous membrane fabricated via suction filtration-induced self-assembly. The demonstrated an outstanding response speed 25 s–1 within relative humidity range 0–70%, accompanied by maximum value 70%. They exhibited exceptional durability, bending capability 1.1 cm–1, could be folded up 20 times. By leveraging these properties, successfully developed unique robot capable directional crawling weightlifting through moisture-driven mechanisms. Notably, innovative extraordinary lifting capacity, which exceeded ten times its own weight. This paper presents next-generation method manufacturing biobased humidity-responsive actuators.

Abstract Flexible organic crystal materials with optical waveguide property have attracted much attention for various applications. Meanwhile, the rising demand deep space and polar explorations brought about a growing interest in low temperature flexibility.
