Although
sonodynamic
therapy
(SDT)
has
shown
promise
for
cancer
treatment,
the
lack
of
efficient
sonosensitizers
(SSs)
limited
clinical
application
SDT.
Here,
a
new
strategy
is
reported
designing
nano-sonosensitizers
based
on
2D
nanoscale
metal-organic
layers
(MOLs).
Composed
Hf-oxo
secondary
building
units
(SBUs)
and
iridium-based
linkers,
MOL
anchored
with
5,10,15,20-tetra(p-benzoato)porphyrin
(TBP)
sensitizers
SBUs
to
afford
TBP@MOL.
TBP@MOL
shows
14.1-
7.4-fold
higher
singlet
oxygen

toxic

organic
pollutants

water
pose
a
major
threat

environment.

Organic
dyes
play
vital
roles
in
the
textile
industry,
while
discharge
of
organic
dye
wastewater
production
and
utilization
has
caused
significant
damage
to
aquatic
ecosystem.
This
review
aims
summarize
mechanisms
photocatalysis,
sonocatalysis,
sonophotocatalysis
treatment
recent
advances
catalyst
development,
with
a
focus
on
synergistic
effect
ultrasound
light
catalytic
degradation
dyes.
The
performance
TiO2-based
catalysts
for
photocatalytic,
sonocatalytic,
sonophotocatalytic
systems
is
compared.
With
light,
generally
performs
much
better
than
sonocatalysis
or
photocatalysis
alone
pollutant
degradation,
yet
it
higher
energy
requirement.
Future
research
directions
are
proposed
expand
fundamental
knowledge
process
enhance
its
practical
application
degrading
wastewater.
