Aerogels have attracted great attention in the academic and industrial fields due to their intrinsic low density, high porosity, specific surface area. As an ideal nanobuilding block for advanced aerogels, research community has shown a strong interest aramid nanofiber (ANF) aerogel materials applications frontier fields. However, there is lack of comprehensive review basic development practical pure ANF aerogels regarding these latest achievements past decade. This aims fill this gap by comprehensively exploring preparation, properties, application progress, challenges, prospects aerogels. We begin with summary rheological principles dispersions, different preparation strategies, drying methods Then, unique properties various morphologies outstanding advantages based on are critically reviewed. Besides, progress multifunctional flexible thermal insulation, environmental protection, energy storage, other summarized. Finally, we explore main challenges give insights further promotion from lab-scale industry-scale.
