Distinguishing between D2O and H2O is crucial for the utilization of high-purity in nuclear industry, chemical analysis, biological pathway tracing, other fields, as well ensuring integrity water quality safeguarding human health, but challenging due to their highly analogous physical properties. On basis fact that exhibits superior hydrogen bond strength deprotonation capacity phenolic OH group compared H2O, red-emitting carbon dots (RCDs) with excellent optical properties, salt tolerance, photobleaching resistance, long-term storage stability, biocompatibility were synthesized via a one-step strategy at room temperature. The RCDs demonstrated sensitivity detecting content was found be 0.060% 0.15%, respectively. Collectively, this research expanded potential applications nanomaterials introduced facile analyzing isotopic purity D2O.
