Infectious diseases, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), significantly impact global health, diminishing the quality of life and increasing clinical economic burdens. Concerns arise due to potential development antimicrobial resistance (AMR) facilitated by biofilm formation. Nanotechnology, specifically silver nanoparticles (1–100 nm), proves effective against bacterial strains, making them valuable in biomedical field. Advances microscopic imaging techniques, such as Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM), enhance our understanding biofilms. This study aims assess effectiveness optimal concentration gold combating biofilms formed uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) through CLSM analysis. The research comprises following stages: rejuvenation isolates inoculum preparation, testing anti-biofilm activity at concentrations 25, 50, 75, 100 ppm UPEC using findings reveal that both exhibit ppm, confirmed for is identified ppm.

Microbial biofilm formation creates a persistent and resistant environment in which microorganisms can survive, contributing to antibiotic resistance chronic inflammatory diseases. Increasingly, biofilms are caused by multi-drug microorganisms, which, coupled with diminishing supply of effective antibiotics, is driving the search for new therapies. In this respect, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) short, hydrophobic, amphipathic that show activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria formation. They also possess broad-spectrum diverse mechanisms action. comprehensive review, 150 publications (from January 2020 September 2023) were collected categorized using terms ‘polypeptide agent’, ‘antimicrobial peptide’, ‘biofilm’. During period, wide range natural synthetic AMPs studied, LL-37, polymyxin B, GH12, Nisin most frequently cited. Furthermore, although many microbes Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa popular. Publications considered AMP combinations potential role delivery systems increasing efficacy AMPs, including nanoparticle delivery. Relatively few focused on resistance. This review informs guides researchers about latest developments research, presenting promising evidence as agents.

The potential uses for antibiofilm surfaces reach across different sectors with significant resultant economic, societal and health impact. For those interested in using the built environment, it is important that efficacy testing methods are relevant, reproducible standardised where possible, to ensure data outputs applicable end-use, comparable literature. Using pre-defined keywords, a review of literature reporting on antimicrobial (78 articles), within which application was described as non-submerged/non-medical surface or coating action, undertaken. most used utilized growth biofilm submerged static systems.
